Slazenger is one of the longest established sports brands , it is steeped in heritage with a history of producing and marketing quality sporting equipment dating back to 1881. Over a century and a quarter ago , Ralph and Albery Slazenger moved their rain wear business south from Manchester to London seeking new products to maintain sales during the summer months. What resulted was the development of rackets and balls for the new game of Sphairistike, invented a few years earlier by Major Walter CloptonWingfield. From that day on Major Wingfield’s game had become one of the worlds most international sports – tennis. From these roots Slazenger had grown from a family business to a truly international organisation, selling quality sporting goods in almost every country of the world. The first major breakthrough came with the introduction of the Slazenger tennis ball which appeared at Wimbledon in 1902 and has maintained this honour ever since. Through time new products strengthened the brand in cricket, golf, hockey and squash. The truly international list of names who played the brand include Jon Newcombe, Ken Roswell, Jimmy Connors, Don Bradman, Gary Sobers, Viv Richards, Ben Hogan, Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and Seve Ballesteros.
